The safest, most attractive and effective way to view your LCD or Plasma TV is to have it wall mounted.
Did you know that during 2008 in Victoria alone, 101 people were hospitalised due to falling TVs, with 16% of victims suffering a fracture and the others left with open wounds or sprains (reported in Herald Sun, 31 Oct 2009). And in the US in 2006 that there were 23 deaths from falling TVs according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Flat screen TVs are thin, large objects made mainly of glass. Unlike older style TVs, LCDs and Plasma TVs have a relatively small base and are very easy to topple. Add to that their lightness compared to old style TVs and you have a hazard ready to fall on unsuspecting toddlers or children.
The safest option is wall installation of your TV.
But wall mounting an LCD or Plasma TV is not as simple as it sounds:
